Book: The Old Confectioner By Hossein Lotfali پیرمرد شیرینی فروش
The Old Confectioner: A Story of Kindness, Trust, and Understanding
The Old Confectioner is a warm and charming children’s story about kindness, trust, misunderstanding, and the importance of discovering the truth before judging others.
In a beautiful village, an old and kind confectioner lives with his family and his beloved grandson. He makes delicious sweets and is known for his generosity. Whenever the children of the village visit him, he happily gives them sweets.
For the old confectioner, seeing the children happy is more important than making money.
But one day, he notices that the sweets he makes are disappearing faster than usual. At first, he cannot understand what is happening. As the amount of sweets continues to decrease, he begins to suspect that the village children are secretly taking them.
The old man becomes upset and disappointed.
Without knowing the truth, he tells his grandson that he should no longer play with the other children in the village.
Meanwhile, the old confectioner’s financial situation becomes worse. With fewer sweets to sell and increasing difficulties, he has to face some hard times.
But his grandson does not simply accept his grandfather’s suspicion.
With the help of a horse and a butterfly, the boy begins to discover what is really happening. Eventually, he finds the truth: the village children were not taking the sweets at all.
The real culprits are two mischievous raccoons who had been secretly taking the confectioner’s sweets.
When the grandson tells his grandfather what he has discovered, the old confectioner realizes that he had been wrong to suspect the children. He feels ashamed of his mistake and understands how easily a misunderstanding can hurt innocent people.
But the story has a happy ending.
One day, a wealthy man from the village passes by the confectioner’s shop with his son. They taste the old man’s delicious sweets and love them. Impressed by their taste, they decide to buy a large quantity of sweets from him.
The old confectioner’s financial situation improves, and happiness returns to his home.
A Story About Looking for the Truth
The Old Confectioner reminds young readers that we should not judge others without knowing the truth.
Sometimes, when something goes wrong, it is easy to blame the people around us. But our first impression may not always be correct. The story encourages children to be patient, investigate what has really happened, and avoid hurting others because of an assumption.
It also celebrates kindness and generosity. The old confectioner’s love for the children of the village is one of the most beautiful parts of the story, showing that sharing happiness with others can create meaningful connections.
Through a gentle and entertaining story involving a grandfather, a grandson, a horse, a butterfly, and two mischievous raccoons, The Old Confectioner offers children a simple lesson about kindness, trust, responsibility, and the importance of discovering the truth before making a judgment.
